Sorry, I mixed up. Henry Purcell wrote the music, lyrics by John Dryden and sung by Sting. Another famous recording was made by Klaus Nomi, a countertenor. It is difficult to sing as you have to stay absolutely in the pitch. Sting does a very good job at it albeit completely different from Klaus Nomi, for instance;-)
