THE REUNION STORY: THE ANSWER IS .... |
|
The Police CDs at eBay USA | eBay UK | eBay DE
The reunion of The Police has been the topic of the year by now. Founded by American-born drummer Stewart Copeland in early 1977, the band is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Stewart Copeland, Sting and Andy Summers formed the super trio that came to a halt in 1984 in Melbourne, Australia. Apart from some small get-togethers such as the Amnesty gigs in 1986, Sting's wedding in 1992 and the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, no real reunion took place.
Since December 2006 rumours started on this website, culminating in articles released worldwide in various press about a pending The Police reunion. Is it true? The answer you can find as registered member to this website by clicking on "More...". Yes. More details about this and the upcoming tour will be anounced in the following weeks, unless official sources decide to release their information earlier, and we will no longer be forced to keep such information hidden from the fans.
WE WOULD APPRECIATE THAT NO COPIES OF THIS POSTING TURN UP ON OTHER FORA, WEBSITES, MAILINGLISTS, ETC. IF THEY DO APPEAR, WE WILL NO LONGER FEEL OBLIGED TO SHARE ANYTHING ANYMORE AND WILL JUST ENJOY THE KNOWLEDGE BY OURSELVES.
POSTERS ESPECIALLY WILL BE BANNED AS MEMBER FROM STINGUS, SO BE AWARE!

Please,
no brass section or backing singers this time.

Could it be????? I sure as hell hope so. The Police remain as one of the prime elements of my life that bring my spirits up, even though they disbanded over 20 years ago.
But I'll believe it when I see it. Sting has consistently stated each time when he is asked that he will not reunite with The Police, so I remain skeptical (but, damn, I am hoping!!!!).

Bassman, well if you will only believe it when you'll see it, I guess you will be a sceptical ticket buyer :)

I would accept a keyboard player, as even some of the early tunes had an odd B-3 or synth part. As it got into "Ghost" and "Synchronicity" there were definitely more keys. I'm biased, because I'm a keyboardist myself.
Other than that, no backing singers...

Hey folk, Sting's voice is not like 30 years ago.... don't you think he needs a little help by backing singers? Perhaps no, but then don't go on complaining saying "well, his voice is not the same as before..." :))
Posted by: micra on Jan 06, 07 | 4:54 am
---------------------------------------------------
Perhaps, no backing female singers...why not male backing singers?
Synth or Dj? :D
---------------------------------------------------
I hope the tour has some more respect for fans than the bogus box set that is comeing out this summer. No wonder they had to pull the info from the website.

Another point... I wonder if there will be presale for Sting fan-club members like for Sting gigs?

I think backing singers would be great but male backup singers this time for a change. How about Il Divo? They're great!
It would also be cool if the Police got some touring members to flesh out their sound like Dire Straits did on their last tour. Remember when DS had 8 to 10 musicians up on stage? It sounded so much better than their early days when they were a stripped down foursome.
Anyhow it will be great whatever they do!

I'm hoping there will be a new album too....

Ooh nicely done stingus! ;)
So.. is that a definite rock steady 100% signed sealed and delivered irrefutable YES?!!
WOW!!
Erm.. we can talk about this posting on THIS forum right?!
---------------------------------------------------
Il "Divo"? I'll prefer peruvian superb tenor "Juan Diego Florez" as a male backing vocal for The Police :D
---------------------------------------------------
Hate to be cynical, but this is probably just a rumor floated to get people excited about the new boxed set.

And against all basic mass phsycology: you can't promise the moon and then expect people buy some miserable re-issue they have yet! The contrary could be more probable... on the emotional wave of having really a chance to get them live, people could be more pushed to buy "even" the box. When you disappointed fans' hope you don't get any reward....
Posted by: micra on Jan 06, 07 | 7:17 pm

Promise to the Moon :)
Live, ALIVE, even "ALIVE and KICKING" !
"people could be more pushed to buy "even" the box" :) (thanks micra!)
People ... Messages ... On the Box ... In the Box ... OUT OF THE BOX !!!
---------------------------------------------------
Yes, get them LIVE, ALIVE !!!
Promise from the Moon :)
---------------------------------------------------
So, would you rather have a strictly 3 piece band like in the Police early days, or a full blown backup band with horns & backup singers? I vote for a stripped band for the first 4-5 songs & then the full backup deal for the rest of the set!
---------------------------------------------------
3 piece band it will be...

Posted by: micra on Jan 07, 07 | 4:37 am

Such skepticism should not overshadow the fact that this is probable and won't everybody just be thrilled and finally forgive Sting for no Reunions. BUT those of you who don't want to see it just don't see it. I myself will be happier when stingus or sting.com tell me it is happening for sure. Or A&M records. I wonder how much Miles Copeland will get out of this little venture. Probably Me I finally believe you and you have been predicting this for ages.

Today...well yesterday for yours ..is my birthday... and is a great gift receiving the confirmation of two shows of THE POLICE in Spain and expecting more dates... hope to be some in my country... I never see my favorite band...never and if I won't see them this time will be the deepest and horrible nightmare of my entire life... If all dates will be scheduled on "First world" I need visas, air tickets, concert tickets, hotel, etc... I mean a big amount in a credit card I don't have... please POLICE fill your concerts dates in "One World - Not Three"!!!
---------------------------------------------------
I mean "One World" ( The entire Planet Earth - not separated by boundaries or stupid rules for citizens around the globe) Set us free!!!

Sorry, but I hope these rumours will appear to be false. I think Sting was always right with keeping saying you shouldn't try to get back to the past.
That's why his career (and for example Miles Davis') is so intereSting: always looking for a new direction. Personally I can't remember a reunion that had any musical relevance (only financial). Only reason that would be right is charity, like in 1986 for Amnesty. Then they had to play Live8 (like Pink Floyd) in 2005.

Nostalgia, a cash-in, and Sting abandoning his coherence.
Nonetheless, I'm thrilled!!

NO backing singers, NO brass section, NO keyboards!!!... but, why not Dominic or Lyle Workman sharing stage with Andy???
I think all the Police songs sound better with 2 guitars (as in the broken music tour)

I saw the police...way back when they appeared at CBGbs.....very raw...and most excellent show....saw their last show at Shea.......camped out the previous night to get 10 ft from stage in center field......keep the reunion tour to intimate venues......Just the 3 lads...set list...ANYTHING Police....No Sting Solo

where is the news
no fuckin dominic
no fuckin kipper
just the three of them
Posted by: cindyyouas on Jan 13, 07 | 1:46 am

All well and cool, but let's not forget, some bands get back together for the MONEY! And this is a group that broke up when they couldn't get any bigger than they were. So we should expect ticket prices so high, that Joe Working Class, and Jane Blue Collor will never be able to afford them. Which defeats the whole idea of seeing them, or any other band, in concert.
A Fan, a working musician...

This is all getting to be mega-boring; why are they acting like prima donnas? Do it or get off the pot; I for one will not care one way or another if they "reunite" - I just hope that it is a one-shot deal for the Grammies, meant to please the nostalgiacs, and nothing more. I honestly doubt that they will resurrect the defunct band, there are too many possibilities for a fiasco there which once presented cannot be recalled.
