Moody Sting cut short a family skiing holiday after his fans became too enthusiastic on the slopes. The Don't Stand So Close To Me singer, who's a keen snowboarder, was annoyed because other skiers constantly took pictures of him with their mobile phones. The 53-year-old star splashed out £15,000 to stay with wife Trudi, their kids and friends for a week at the swanky Cristallo Hotel in the Italian resort of Cortina D'Ampezzo. The Don't Stand So Close To Me singer, who's a keen snowboarder, was annoyed because other skiers constantly took pictures of him with their mobile phones. The 53-year-old star splashed out £15,000 to stay with wife Trudi, their kids and friends for a week at the swanky Cristallo Hotel in the Italian resort of Cortina D'Ampezzo. After being snapped on the piste, queuing for ski lifts and even eating at restaurants, the final straw was when one fan took a photo of Sting as he emerged from a sauna in his bathrobe. Our source revealed: "He went completely mad. Obviously he's very serious about the family's privacy. "But Sting's not the first celeb to stay in Cortina. Loads of people have holidayed here including Brad Pitt and royalty. In the past nobody's had a problem."
Sting and his party left after just two days and went to Venice instead. Hotel manager Stelio Gualaccini said: "There were problems with fellow clients and other skiers continually taking his picture. He simply had enough and checked out."
Snowboard instructor Alberto Belfi added: "He came across as very serene but people wouldn't leave him alone."
