CAPTAIN CLIVE KELLY NOT HAPPY WITH RAINFOREST FOUNDATION AND STING
Sting CDs at eBay USA | eBay UK | eBay GER
They (Sting and "Captain" Clive Kelly) used to be allies, but it seems their relationship went sour. Kelly photographed and filmed Sting with his body painted like a Kayapo warrior. Kelly says he also introduced him to the Kayapo chief Raoni Metuktire, who accompanied the rock star on a trip around the world to draw attention to the plight of Amazonian people. Kelly charges that Sting and Styler have since forgotten Raoni, who, he says, now lives in poverty near the city of Brasilia. "I think Raoni is angry," says Kelly. "He went all the way to Rio to ask Sting why he hadn't kept his promise. Sting wouldnąt answer his calls." The Rainforest Foundation used his film and photos without paying him, Kelly alleges. "Raoni and I have lost everything," says Kelly, now 69. "I live in a hovel. We should have small pensions from the foundation."

STING'S PLEAD FOR MUSIC LESSONS AT HAY FESTIVAL
Sting CDs at eBay USA | eBay UK | eBay GER
"We should stop cutting music programmes in schools, ... It's vitally important that our kids are exposed to music: give them the opportunity to play instruments." Sting, who left the classroom in the mid-1970s to become a full-time musician, recalled how his favourite lessons involved borrowing as many instruments as he could - "guitars, banjos... nose flutes! And let the kids mess around". He warned that while the country did not produce much any more, "we do make art and music".
Sting was at the literary festival in Powys with Trudie Styler, to discuss Twin Spirits, a play they performed on Broadway as an Aids benefit about the 19th Century German composer Robert Schumann and his wife Clara. The couple were accompanied by the Welsh soprano Rebecca Evans, who performs as Clara on stage.
