Yoga Revolution is a new compilation CD featuring award-winning artists Sarah McLachlan, Seal, Sting, Sheryl Crow and international artists Angelique Kidjo, Anoushka Shankar, Ziggy Marley, Krishna Das, Deva Premal and Donna De Lory. Anoushka Shankar and Karsh Kale featuring Sting perform on Sea Dreamer. Sting played guitar and sang lead on the ballad that was originally released on Anoushka Shankar's 2007 album "Breathing Under Water'' (Manhattan Records).
The CD was created to raise funds for yoga-based fitness classes in schools serving underserved USA youth. Yoga Revolution was produced by Frank Fitzpatrick, a multi-platinum producer, Grammy-nominated songwriter, yogi and the founder of EarthTones. The CD is part of EarthTones' Music with A Heart program and features Nettwerk Music CEO and yogi, Terry McBride, as the executive producer. Proceeds from the CD will benefit the Yoga Health Foundation's national health education and fitness programs.

Sting and his wife Trudie Styler were at the Palio race in Siena on Monday August 16. 40,000 spectators flocked to Siena, Italy and gathered in the town’s cobbled streets and piazza. What they witnessed was the oldest horse race in the world, the Palio. First held in 1482 the race is famous for its age and frenzied style. Lasting only one and a half minutes, jockey’s ride bare back and race three times around the Piazza del Campo. The race sees the different neighbourhoods of Siena competing, one horse from each of the 17 neighbourhoods can compete and this year’s race saw 10 neighbourhoods contesting for the bragging rights. The race was won by the Tartuca neighbourhood, the Tortoise, with 41-year-old veteran jockey Gigi Bruschelli claiming victory for the twelfth time.
Interestingly, animal rights activists are seeking to get all such races stopped. They claim that the competitions, including Siena's Palio, are cruel and dangerous for the horses, jockeys and spectators. According to the largest campaign group, LAV (the Anti-Vivisection League), 48 animals have died since 1970 as a result of the race. And two animals have died since 2001, the last time new safety measures were introduced.

Part animation part documentary, 2012: Time for a change, with Sting and Canadian actress Ellen Page/ 2012: Time for a Change, addresses the issue of climate change in an optimistic manner that looks to traditional tribal reverence of nature and modern science as a solution.
The film, which includes musician and activist Sting, and Canadian actress Ellen Page of Juno fame, hypothesizes that a change in human evolution could put us back in tune with nature and lead to us taking a role as protectors of nature.
The DVD will be available soon and cal already be pre-ordered at the film's website.
