Recently I read an article in a newspaper of someone who told he met a famous person and he wanted to say hi to him and have a chat when he realised that the person was familiar to him, but the other way around, the person did not know him at all. I realised it was the same for me with Sting. He is such an important person in my life, while he does not know me at all. Ever since I was 13 years old, he is one of the men in my life. He is much more important to me than just an artist who makes great music. I follow his moves, I agree with him in trying to make this world a better place, I know things about him that no-fans don't know. I listen to his music every day. He is with me on happy days and on sad days. I will let them play his music on my funeral. I get miserable by the idea he will pass away someday. And he will never know that I existed and what important role he played in my life. Strange feeling , don't you think? Jul 06, 12 | 1:35 pm

Not strange. A psycholgical rope to hang onto when the balance beam of life gets shakey. Sting & the police where that to me till the late '90's, 15 yrs of inspiration. I particularly treasure stings songs about his father and the whole soul cages mind trip. As a father w/ a 21 month old boy I can relate. On tour he will openly talk about his father and say this song is dedicated to my father. "Why shuld I cry for you" comes to mind. My father was cold to me, I am communicative and warm and physically affectionate w/ my boy. He has seen me cry. Really, the ball is in his court. This is his century. The rest of us born last century are on barrowed time. Sting who? they'll say.

I have responded to this type of question in a previous post. I am a huge Sting fan. I would never approach him. I'm not a person who wants autographs or to shake hands with someone for the sake of their popularity. This type of interaction does not interest me.
I am no one special. Recently (by complete accident) I have bumped elbows with 3 recording artists that have had major label destribution of 3-12 albums (no one near the stature of Sting.) They each have approached my wife and I because we treat them like an everyday individual. They usually want to talk about music or the local seen. They are not selling us a product. They do not want to have interaction with star-gazers. Yes...I tell them I appreciate their art but in a calm, respectful manner. I give them plenty of room when others suffocate them. I do not respect musicians that mainly seek fan adoration. They are usually emmotionally flawed. I just want to enjoy the music. Jul 15, 12 | 11:43 am
