Hi,

i must say STING is not honest.....
The reunion idear was a great way to make more money....nothing more....
His fire for writing new songs is out....no new album since 2003.....strange projects as the lute and orchester thing.....but nothing new.....

And in interviews he say he won´t play the old POLICE songs again and again.....but people we are not blind....what is he playing all the time with the broken music shit and the other so called greatest hit tours.....more police songs then ever.....sorry but i can not believe sting in any way.....he is a lieér in my prospect of view.....

And now a new The Police DVD.....only for the money....sorry but we got those concerts in our collecting box.....Don Kirshner Show....why not another reunion show from 2008....? Or the documentary of the police produced by GERD.....what is happen with that project ? Can anybody answere me that question =? I think Sting has stoppped him while it was to good produced....so much nice interviews from nigel gray and hugh padham....sorry but this is what we want......record companys of the world.....

Some rumours talk about another secret The Police Project in 2013.....but i think this is pure shit....that the people buy the other presents from the AM Machinery....

There was a chance to do a new album with the police but stings EGO was to great to try it.....sorry folks but i can not listen to those shows who sting is trying to sound like the police .....he can not do it without the two other amazing souls...and thats a fact.....

It would be cool to read statements.....!!!!!!!!

Wow, I decided to peruse this place to see if any discussion was taking place about the present.
Are some of you around here still hung up on the Reunion thing five years ago?

I can attest that Lightrebel's claim that he is performing "more Police songs than ever" is totally false. I saw him on the Back To Bass tour last year and only 5 out of 21 songs were written during the Police era of Sting's career.

I am going to the Borgata gig in a few weeks. I am going to witness another 'reunion' of sorts: Colaiuta, Miller and Sancious back in the fold once again! With talent such as that, I know that it will be a fantastic show. With Sancious back on keys, there is no doubt in my mind that it will be even better than the show I saw last year. And if they perform less than 5 or 6 songs from the Police era, then I'll be even that much more thrilled. For me, the Police songs hardly can compare to the level of sophistication that Sting reached during the height of his solo career.

So that is my 'statement' at the moment.

Maybe Lightrebel was referring to the DVD material enclosed to the 25-Years-Box-Set. I found it very weird that the vast majority of songs that we got to see on this were from The Police era, when the Set was about Sting's solo career. (Not mentioning that they didn't even bother to show us the whole concert anyway...)

I love what Sting is currently doing, the Back-To-Bass-Tour was one of his best ever, considering both, his own amazing vocals and performance, and also the phantastic musicians surrounding him.
I'm aching for a Live DVD of this tour!

But what's this new Police DVD Lightrebel was mentioning? Sounds interesting too, for I can never ever get enough of The Police. : )

Yes, that the DVD of a 2005 concert was included in the 25 Years package was quite odd. But something from that performance had to eventually surface, so I guess Sting and his handlers figured this was the best innocuous way to present it. The reason that the whole show never was released was simple: the playing was not very strong and that was blatant obvious especially with the more sophisticated songs from the solo era. That band did well enough with the simpler rock tracks but they never presented satisfying renditions of the more complex tunes.

I still find it hard to believe that Sting has yet to release an official DVD with Colaiuta on drums. I'd think the time is now, before their skill begins to deteriorate due to the inevitable.

I was at the 2005 gig. It wasnt released in full because it was marred by extremely hot temperatures in the theater & Sting misfortune to invite a fan onto the stage to sing End Of The Game with him which turned into a disaster when she didnt know any of the words to the song.

Lightrebel, yes the re-union tour was a ghost in the money making machine... but it was never promised as anything else really... yes tickets were expensive but I never heard anyone say oh that was a waste of money... I enjoyed the gigs I saw (and I have been to every Police/Sting tour since the real Ghost In The Machine in 1981... minus Broken Music when the UK was ignored... and The Police were really great in my opinion on the re-union tour).

Played a cd the other day of their Wembley show in 2007. Now that's what I call music. Putting The Police on is bliss basically! Song after song after song.

Five years yesterday incidentally since the re-union tour began... where does the time go...

Also, you call Sting a liar for 'saying he won't play The Police songs again and again'... A liar? Maybe that is not what you meant and English is not your first language but Sting is not a criminal on trial for murder!!!! He's entitled to play The Police songs is he not? He wrote them. He owes us nothing, he's given us 30+ years of his talents.

Haven't bought the Sting box set, although I have been given copies of the cds. They sound good quality. Not really interested in the Irving Plaza thing to be honest. Broken Music tour in the USA... blah... not that Sting wasn't good at Live8 in that year... when he played Driven To Tears it was amazing... but Broken Music... he should have just got back with The Police a bit earlier and... well never have split up with them in the first place!... but he wasn't happy was he... a great tragedy when one looks back at Sting's career, that he couldn't or didn't want to make it work with those two guys who argued with him, hated him, loved him, annoyed him and inspired him, rather than merely worked for him...

Funny story, Johnny. I'd love to see this disaster fan - or even more, Sting's reaction to her. ;D

Lightrebel, what's wrong with playing the old songs again and again - as long as Sting enjoys it (which he certainly does at the moment) and there's enough fans enjoying them, too (which there are, according to the ticket prices and filled venues).
As for myself, I've never found any music more interesting and touching than Sting's/The Police's, so I don't care how many times I've heard the songs before. They're just brilliant. And timeless.

Lightrebel, when did Sting say he wouldn't play Police songs again? I must have missed that. It is well within his right to play those songs whenever he wants, with or without Andy and Stewart. (Without would be my preferrence, as Miller's playing is far more nuanced and precise than Summers' and Sting has his pick of drummers who are far superior to Copeland.)

The Police Reunion tour was never about anything other than making money. None of the band members ever said anything concrete about new songs, or a new album. In fact, they all made a point to say this was about bringing closure to the group. So, I don't see how that caused people to speculate on future Police projects. Let is go, people, it's not likely to happen. And definitely not in 2013.

Also, there is a blatant contradiction in your statement: "....no new album since 2003.....strange projects as the lute and orchester thing.....but nothing new....." You complain of a lack of new music and then list a new album. The labyrinth and winter projects were albums of new music. It is true that Sting did not compose most of those songs, but the way the music was interpreted and presented was new and many people enjoyed those releases.

You may have read that Sting has spent time working on a musical based partially on The Soul Cages called The Last Ship. He has reportedly composed 25 new songs. People who only want new Police music will probably complain that this is not "new" music either simply because it's not the kind of music they wish to hear. Or they will say that Sting needs to set his "ego" aside and just rejoin with Andy and Stewart. I think it's more than evident by now that there is simply no pleasing these irrational people. They pined for years and years to see the Police together on stage again. Then they got the reunion tour yet still found things to complain about, like the arrangements of the songs, claiming Sting's need to control everything robbed the songs of their raw energy. Then, with the same breath they used to complain about the tour they demanded a new album from the same man they labeled as arrogant and overbearingly controling. I don't think it's a stretch to say that even if by some miracle a new Police album came out the majority of those people would still bitch that Sting somehow stiffled the supposedly loose and organic and awesome energy of Andy and Stewart.

The time is long overdue when people need to let go of the Police. That band is more likely than not done for good. It has been mind numblingly dull to read comments from those "fans" who not only refuse to move on, but insist on insulting Sting and those of us who continue to follow him through his various musical explorations. I have made this plea numerous times before: if the Police is who you want to listen to, put on an old record, cassette, CD, or DVD and enjoy the nostalgia. Leave the rest of us alone to enjoy the new music of the present.
