Brand New Day: (as of Sept 2003) Official Soundscan numbers (US numbers)...3.5 million sold i estimate the album has probably reached the 3.8-4.0 million scanned (so mark it as a 4XPlatinum with 4 million or more shipped)... Europe showed over 2 million as of 2001 (i assumed the album had reached 3 million mark by now)...Total sales...Over 8 million. The problem is that some countries it is hard to track sales...But this album had the global hit "Desert Rose" which actually introduced Sting to many new fans. Ten Summner's Tales: (US numbers:2.8 million as of 1999...Probably reached over 3.0 millon mark in scanned by now...Shipment over 3 million)..UK: 3X platinum (900,000 sold)...Total Sales...8 million or more Sacred love....1.3 million scanned as of 2007 (in the US) Over 1 million sold in Europe as of 2003 (probably reached the 1.5-2.0 mark by now). total sales...3 million (the least successful) Soul Cages....1.4 million sold/Scanned as of 1993...Probably now around 1.5-1.7 million Scanned (4 million sold as of 1992/1993). Nothing like the Sun (2 million sold in the US as of 1989)...sold another 500,000+ in soundscan as of 1999/2000 (remember soundscan was introduced in 1991) i assumed the total sales are over 2 million-2.5 million in the US...The later sales could be attributed as more fans bought the album on CDs, replacing their vinyl and cassettes . According to Wikipedia...This is the most successful Sting Album in terms of global sales...It has sold over 11 million copies due to the it's strong sales in South America...So, if this is the case, NLTS is the most successful Sting album... The Dream of the Blue Turtles...3 Million shipped as of 1986...Soundscan showed another 500,000 sold until 1999/2000. Once again, this could be attributed to fans switching over CD. I assumed this album has sold somewhere around 3.0-3.5 million in the US. Total Sales: 7-8 million. Fields of Gold: The Best of Sting....sold 1.9 million copies as of 1999/2000 in soundscan (2X Platinum) I assumed this album has probably scanned around 2.5 million copies to date in the US...In Europe: 4 million Sold as of 2003/2004...The most sales by Sting sold career officially reported by the European recording industry. Total sales to date: 7-8 million in Sales... ALL This Time (LIVE ALBUM) Scanned around 750K-800K by 2003 (Certified Gold in the US)... I assume this album has probably reached around 900K-1 million mark in the US (no official platinum confirmation as of now, but they will one of these days)...1 million sold in Europe as of 2002...I assumed it probably reached around 1.5 million by now: Total Sales...2.5 million +, no more than 3 million by now...This is pretty decent for a live album... His Classical/holiday albums.... On a Winter's Night: 550k-600K Scanned to date (certified Gold in the US)...Gold in Europe...Total Sales to date...Around 1.5 million...This is pretty good for a holiday album and the fact that sales are down across the board... Symphonicity has sold over 500K Worldwide His Lute Album 500K (250K or in the US, 250K+ in Europe) Dec 29, 11 | 3:57 am

Sacred Love was not a total disappointment...The record company was happy with the sales...The only problem was the album was not radio friendly...
JUST and FY1, hardly any acts sell 10 million copies now worldwide...U2's last album was their worst in terms of sales...I estimated the album only sold around 3 million copies...Coldplay will be happy to sell 2 or 3 million copies of the new album in the United States. Dec 29, 11 | 4:02 am

Sorry I missed Mercury Falling...
Mercury Falling eclipsed the 1.0 million mark in 1999/2000 time (in terms of scanned units). The album was certified platinum in the year of release (meaning 1 million shipped). As Brand New Day soured in sales, it pushed some Mercury Falling Units as well. It sold about 3 million copies in the year it was released. As of 2000/2001 time frame, the album sold or scanned 1.05 units in the US market. As of right now, it has probably reached the 1.2-1.3 million in terms of scan units. Therefore, Mercury Falling is about 100K-200K units short in terms of units sold in the US compared to Sacred Love. In summary, It is accurate to say that Mercury Falling is Sting's least successful album by a few units under Sacred Love (not including the holiday , classical and lute albums). Dec 31, 11 | 2:01 am

I have always thought that Mercury Falling was underappreciated. The album and the various b-sides were excellent to superior Sting material. I found the sales information curious.

I hung my Head has become my favorite track from Mercury Falling. The Live at Berlin concert version was impeccable. Some albums tend to shine later on like Mercury Falling.
Sting's most Successful albums by order 1) Nothing Like the Sun (according to Wikipedia, 11 million sold worldwide...if this is correct)/2 million+ in the US By my count, this album sold 6-7 million/However, Wikipedia mentions that South America was a big market for that album) 2) Brand New Day (8 million+)/Almost 4 million in the US/600K+ in the UK/2-3 million in Europe 3) Ten Summner's Tales (8 million)/3 million+in the US/900K in the UK 4) Fields of Gold: The Best of Sting 7 million+/2 million+ in the US/4 million in Europe 5) The Dream of the Blue Turtles: (7 million)/3 million+ in the US 6) Soul Cages ( around 3.5- 4 million) 1.5 million in the US/1 million+ in Europe 7) Sacred Love ( 3 million/1.3 million in the US/1 million+ in Europe) 8) Mercury Falling (3 million)/1.2 million in the US/1 million+in Europe 9) All This Time: Live Album (2.5 million) 800K-900K in the US/1 million in Europe 10) On A Winter's Night (holiday Album): 600k in the US/600K+ in Europe. Total sales around 1.3-1.5 million Worldwide. 11) Lute Album (500k+ Worldwide)/Classical 12) Symphonicity (500k+ worldwide)/Classica...It is very likely this album might have sold a few more units than the Lute Album Jan 07, 12 | 3:57 pm

these figures are interesting although i would like to see official figures and i have often wondered why they seem so difficult to get a hold off. do you think you could do a similar type of list for the police album sales? also if anyone has OFFICIAL sales figures for sting-police i would LOVE to see them.
