God Almighty!

I'm so so sorry. I will definately spend the rest of the day performing unusually cruel activities on myself, Stingirl - ramming my head into random trees on the way to school, slapping myself in the face and so on.

There really is no excuse for what I did.
There is no punishment great enough.
OF COURSE IT'S ERIC!!!!

Won't happen again - promise!

Hi Shazia! There's a fabulous version of Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" on Paul Weller's "Studio 150" record of cover versions.
I'd highly recommend it !Perhaps you could do me a favour and recommend a good Gordon Lightfoot CD to start with ? Thanks !

LOL Nimrod, I am not the best with recommending a good CD to start with, perhaps the album "Sundown" is a good start, because it's among his most popular album.

I love his song Canadian Railroad Trilogy, it's on his CD "Lightfoot/The Way I Feel" from 1966.....and the original "Early Morning Rain" is on that album too. That's probably the 2nd album after Sundown that is recommendable.

I like his album "Old Dan's Records" from 1972, but for some reason it's not everyone's favorite, but I think it is beautiful, very folk-country-like.

I have the albums Dream Street Rose and Summertime Dream, and although I like those too, I wouldn't recommend those first, but down the road, perhaps, yes.

However if you don't like any of these albums then I will feel like it's my fault LOL

It's okay LOL.

To be honest, I still have to collect more albums of his. Those are the only ones I have for now.

However, his voice started changing from 1980 onward, and it is the widely held opinion that it started getting quite bad from then.......

His albums from 1966 to 1976 represent his vocals in his prime.

Depeche Mode (!)

I know they're of a completely different genre, but somehow I'm really into them recently. Martin Gore is such a talented songwriter and lyricist. Well, the lyrics are by no means as poetic and beautiful as Sting's, but they are painfully true to life and vivid.

Then probably

Not really sure if I love all of them AFTER Sting, some are on an equal level, for the most different reasons, but heres a feature of my list anyway (in no particular order aka random):

Sarah McLachlan
Bryan Adams
Nellie McKay
Eric Clapton
Butterfly Boucher
Ray Wilson
Tori Amos
Mark Knopfler
Vanessa Carlton
Genesis
Mike & the Mechanics
Bruce Hornsby

and many more

And yes, it often happens to me that I watch a support act on a concert and become a fan - if theyre good! And then they never come back with a tour of their own and I only see them once in my life =o(

Actually, even more than Sting, I am a fan of the music of David Sylvian. I really enjoy how he challenges his listeners with every release. Sylvian is in no way afraid to experiment, and is in no way restricted by the constraints of commercialism. He dares to follow no formula and his musical discography is richer for this fact.
Like Sting, he broke up his band at the height of it's success and followed a more personal path in creating music. Obviously, Sylvian's group Japan was nowhere near as successful as The Police, but their popularity paved the way for groups like Duran Duran or others who came out of that "new romantic" movement. When the sound they defined became acceptable, Sylvian called it a day and headed towards a sound grounded in jazz and world music, as well as ambient and folk music, electronic and funk.
One never truly knows what to expect from the next Sylvian release and another one is expected in October. I impatiently await it's release.

Myself, I'm not a big music lover. I rarely listen to any music besides Sting, David Gray and Pink Floyd. In fact, the only other CD I've bought the last two years is the latest by Coldplay. I find all music NOT from said artists a chore to listen to. Bad music strains my ears. And my definition of BAD MUSIC is very wide indeed.

Just for the hell of it; my least favourite bands, that are widely popular and not heavy metal or anything:

- Nirvana (God - mercy on me soul! It burns!!!)
- U2 (Mother Of Christ And All That's Holy - make it stop!)
- All things new and on the charts
- Guns N' Roses

I enjoy" Streets of Philadelphia, Born to run,Tenth avenue freeze out, Glory days ,Tunnel of Love,Brilliant disguise( the two best songs he has done) and secret garden. Pink Floyd together, I didn't think it would happen considering the animosty that was going on between the band members. There is still hope for the Police to re-unite!!! Fender54,where I live, it is mid day saturday I'm in Cali. My joy for sat. night is to visit my sister and do my laundry. Yahoo!!! Why are you here saturday night? No excuses now, like I need to watch the dog ,take care of me grandma or I have a large boil on me bum(because I have used those all before). You don't have to say it ,I know I have a weird sense of humor.

It is now Saturday night, and I'm at home. Why? Because I have a large boil on me bum. You can't go out with a boil on yer bum, now can you?

This is to be sure! Now with a rash you can use ointment, but a boil, forget it, going out on a date with a boil is like walking out the door with a loaded gun ,you just don't know when it will go off!!!

Working on a weekend Fender54. Sorry dude that really sucks. I may be joining you on that front though. I have question ,Fender54. I had a heated conversation with my boss about how the Scots and the Irish don't get along. I disagreed with her of course. Is this true? I am Scotts/Irish and I get along with myself. I know factions of English and Irish don't get along though.

Most of the Scots and Irish get on like brother to brother. But some protestant Scots have issues with the Irish, as we are mainly Catholics.
I worked for a few years in Nothern Ireland and when stopped by the British army the main force to give me a hard time was the Scots boys. But after saying that educated Irish and educated Scots get on very well. Scotland is great and the Scotish are great. My sister married one.

Katy, at 16 you have the whole world in front of you. You are in control of your destiny. Teen years are always crazy! I'm presuming that the experiances we(U.S.) deal with in high school are similar to Europe. Remember that everyone is a teacher in some way or another. Teachers are parents friends ,family, strangers, very old or very young, even enemies can be teachers. You learn so many varied things from people in all walks of life. Sometimes we miss what we should have learned in a particular moment, that is where mistake come in. Even mistakes are teachers as well. Now, if only I could actually apply this philosphy more often in my own life ,then I could be set.
Katy ,what do you mean materially?
