sting apparently stayed in philly and saved himself the agony of sitting through this ordeal. after the horrible opening act with that gaga character, who is ugly, fat, can't sing and can't dance, i tuned in from time to time but it still sucked. what has happened to pop music? can't they do better than this???? haha, sting's daughter was being bugged by the record company to write a hit song, and so she wrote some piece of trash to get back at them and they actually liked it, thought it had potential... typical. I totally disagree. I think Lady Gaga is too thin to the point of being scary.

I agree with you Munch. She is a hell of a performer. I thought this year The Grammys were way more entertaining than in the past. I am a closet Emenem love too. And I adore The Blackeyed Peas.

And you know Sting and Trudie went to see Lady Gaga in New York. She isn't my favorite either but she is good.

wow, pam. that criticism was extremely constructive. facts were a bit off, but you know...i guess to each his own. i can't say that i'm the biggest fan of lady gaga, but i do happen to like a few of her songs. i also recognize the image she's going for/what she's trying to accomplish. after seeing her performance, especially after sir elton joined her, i must say i was impressed. she's a hell of an entertainer.

I did not come away from the Grammy Awards Show thinking it was a waste of my time. The problem for me is that the categories in which I am most interested don't get the attention on prime time. I know that is the way it will be and therefore I don't end up hating the program. I always learn something musical (bad or good) from watching.

i thought Maxwell (+Roberta Flack) was a great slice of soul. though i don't usually like his stuff, Dave Matthews and his extended Band was pretty musical. i liked Pink's song - though i don't know if her vocals were live while swinging around. and my favorite performance of the evening had to be the classy tribute to Les Paul & Mary Ford done by Jeff Beck & Imelda May.
Sting related wins: Christian McBride & Vinnie Colaiuta earned Best Jazz Instrumental grammy for their Five Peace Band cd. Vinnie & Jason Rebello won the Instrumental Song grammy for their version of the Beatles' A Day In The Life. How High The Moon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_2Jpyu2FMg Feb 02, 10 | 2:33 pm

I didn't watch. I don't get gagga over Lady G... now if it was Lady D we might have something different but.
It is nice to read that Christian McBride and Vinnie C got awards however. Feb 02, 10 | 7:26 pm

If you there, I watched the entire pre-grammy award show. They streamed it on the Grammy site on the internet. Thing is most of the nominess don't show up. But I loved it anyway,
Yeah Vinnie and Christian shared honors with Chick Corea. That was cool. But poor Chris Botti didn't win in either of the categories he was nomionated in. Feb 02, 10 | 8:59 pm

i missed 'how high the moon' but caught it on youtube, yeah that was cool..beck is always good. but really, no one else is appalled at that gag a me performance? really, she can't sing, i'm not a musician and even i could hear it. she doesn't hit the highs or lows but sings in the middle registers to make it easy on herself, so already it sound monotonous, and then she can't even get those notes right. i just hate this current pop movement where it's all image and shock value and no music. even pink, who i think is actually very talented, though not my favorite music, has to rely on circus acts to maintain interest. it is interesting, just not musically.

i saw of clip of this Lady Gaga performing on the French show Taratata and to be honest, i wasn't {{{unimpressed}}}. she at least has some knowledge of the piano, so she is probably a little more well versed in music theory when compared to most of the carbon copy acts who rely on auto-tune. she surely was not as dreadful as that Swift girl, who couldn't even keep in key on her own songs and really destroyed that attempt at Rhiannon.
i forgot to mention saxophonist Kenny Garrett, who was also member of Grammy award winning Five Peace Band. he also contributed that kickass soprano solo on The Burning Babe. Feb 04, 10 | 6:54 pm

Oh yes. Chris definitively would have deserved an award. He is fantastic. His music is great - not only the stuff he did with Sting but also with others. Like Michael Bublé who did win a grammy by the way. Another fantastic artist. Can't wait to see him live in May :-)

I agree and the song with Yo Yo Ma on Yo Yo Ma & friends album... that also got the grammy. Lately I saw him in November and I hope for next show as soonest as it is possible.

Since you are talking about that "Lady Gaga" character, which I never heard of, I found her on youtube out of curiosity and I must agree. She is an ugly twat with voice so uninteresting that I would rather be listening to the CD compilation of loud farts.
