Only a "Reprise" album of "Max's fav's"; two new songs to help sell it; and a medium size 25th Anv Tour to ring up the tour/merchandise dollars... get ready to fork out some serious dough for these seats though; small venues (if in fact, that's what he does)...
Maybe he's working on a Spring/Easter album? Maybe he's jamming with Stew & Andy? Maybe he's back with the Blue Turtles band? Jan 18, 10 | 3:31 pm

I read somewhere that he (Sting) told Spike Lee that Dream of the Blue Turtles is going to be re-released and have some more punch to it.....
If deres any truth to it I guess we will find out. Jan 18, 10 | 4:07 pm

Yeah Gonefishing you heard right.
Yeah he told Spike Lee: Spike Lee, who was busy chatting about his upcoming documentary sequel to his "When the Levees Broke," took Sting aside. "I love that song, Soul Cake," Lee said, emphasizing the first word. Sting laughed, changing the emphasis. "It's soul cake," he said, "not that kind of Soul." It turns out Spike Lee is a big Sting fan. When he praised Sting's first solo album, "Dream of the Blue Turtles," the singer told him he was going to re-release the CD totally remixed. "It's going to have a lot more punch." For a while Sting and Vanity Fair writer Christopher Hitchens also discussed God. But that's another whole story. http://showbiz411.blogs.thr.com/george-clooney-to-host-mtv-telethon-for-haiti/ Jan 18, 10 | 6:20 pm

A tour to support rereleased material would give Sting the chance to once again avoid the distribution of any new material written by himself. (7 years and counting) Simply Amazing! Of course I'd go see him do Turtles, especially if Branford were part of the band. I think his early solo career was his best work since he was in his Jazzy period. Do you suppose Sting's refusal to release any new material has anything to do with how much artists are losing via the illegal sharing of commercial releases?

johnny, i really don't think sting's lack of new material has anything to do with illegal downloading. sting and other major artists have said on multiple occasions that they're not the ones who suffer all that much when music gets pirated; indie musicians with much smaller fan bases are the ones feeling the pinch.
as for remixing the dream of the blue turtles - i am skeptical. i will keep an open mind, of course, and give it a listen hoping it's good should this project turn out to be true. but i am ultimately hoping it's not. if this writer's block is still going on for sting, my vote goes to releasing at CD with orchestral interpretations of songs reaching across all of his albums. whatever happens, i think it will be a while before we see anything from sting, new or simply rearranged. Hang on... the only info we have about this remix of Dream of the Blue Turtles is one line from one article on the net written by a guy listening to other people's conservations at a party? Hmmm.... even if Sting did say that he was probably drunk! :P
Just seems like an odd thing to do if you ask me! Although I do love DOFBT! I wish Sting would just focus on making some NEW music now and stop creating all these distractions for himself! Jan 19, 10 | 2:54 pm

I agree Lady D. We never know if Sting said it, Did he mean it, And when is it supposed to happen. I don't hate all remixes but some aren't what we are used to.
And look, at Stings age maybe no new music is his way of just doing what he pleases, he doesn't wanna work that much, he's blocked, or it's his method of semi-retirement. At some point you just wannna say WTF. He'll never fully retire but he just may want to keep it simple. Jan 19, 10 | 5:54 pm

So we've seen unshaved Sting so many times . And bearded him from time to time. But I've never seen unshaved or even bearded Andy. You have? Perhaps I've seen unshaved Stewart somewhere, once..

I apologize in advance, for this will not be a 'simple reply'. :)
A few months ago, I had made mention that Vinnie Colaiuta and Jason Rebello were finishing up work on Jeff Beck's new cd, titled Emotion & Commotion - which now has a tentative release date of April 13th. Jeff Beck planned to also have his band go out on the road with Eric Clapton's band in a joint tour for early 2010...much the same as they had done a double bill at the beginning of last year. Now it turns out that their tour is going on as planned, and Rebello remains in the lineup but after initially agreeing to the tour and even posting live dates on his website, it turns out that Vinnie has actually opted out - with Narada Michael Walden now taking his place. Speculation is going around among many members of the drumming community that Vinnie has set aside a good deal of his time for session work, of which some could possibly be with Sting. Perhaps Dominic Miller has gotten his way after all? Sting really couldn't go wrong by surrounding himself with three productive professionals such as Dom, David Sancious and Colaiuta in the studio. Obviously, this is all speculation...but after last year's random live shows featuring the quartet and then learning that Colaiuta has backed out of tour dates with his most consistent boss Beck, it now really doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. That's interesting Baht that Vinnie Colaiuta appears to have cleared his diary, after initially committing to the Beck tour and dropping out... Let's hope it IS to do something with Sting, Dom and David Sancious, that spectacular SOUL CAGES line up that so many of us love! Keep us posted if you hear any more.
