The below appeared (with no URL link) on the Police fan club forum. Is it an old quote or recent one? Is it true? I thought Sting was quoted about being with Dom in the studio. The below quote (if current) also states " Now, he is apparently back on the lute. As much as I liked the lute tour, please tell us this is old. And, if is a true and correct quote...does this leave the door open for The Police? Anyone have the facts/insight please? Thanks in advance. There are no plans to work with Sting in the future. Now I realise giving him that &%$£ing lute was the biggest own goal of my career. I have to laugh sometimes just thinking about it. It put me out of work for a year, and then he did the Police tour to counter the lute project. Another year. Now, apparently, he's back on the lute. Who knows. But boys and girls, I do have a sense of humour. Just. It's been two years since we worked, and in those two years I have gained more than I have lost. Namely, a family life. Just going away for three days is hard, let alone three weeks or even three MONTHS which seems impossible to contemplate. I used to not flinch when we went on these long tours and be away from the family months at a time. The shortest world tour I did with Sting was fourteen months. The longest, two years. Touring at that level is a very selfish existence. Yes, you do perform in front of thousands every night and make a lot of money and which is thrilling, but you simply don't have a life. Do I miss it? @£$% yeah, but for different reasons. I miss the camaraderie of being in a band, that's for sure. The money? Absolutely. The notoriety? Maybe. But I don't miss the tedium nor the repetitiveness of it all. I am a family man now and no touring can ever replace that. I am also a musician, and yes I do go away from time to time, but never for more than two weeks. I lead a simpler, better life and make my sad music which makes me happy. Feb 20, 09 | 1:50 am

Tracked down the quote to a Sept 2008 Dominic posting so it may not be relevant.
Are we sure Dom & Sting are in the studio now? Feb 20, 09 | 2:24 am

Dominic was rumored to have been summoned to Sting's studio in March, for what that's worth.

one would be correct in acknowledging that certain situations have changed since Dom wrote that message. this was written after the conclusion of the Police reunion yet before the last set of Labyrinth dates and Welcome to the Voice performances.
"And, if is a true and correct quote...does this leave the door open for The Police?" if nothing else, we must admire this iceman's continued dedication towards keeping the hopes and dreams (and also rumors) alive. :) by the way, if you may not be aware, there happens to be an entire Police section on this wonderful forum that seems to be neglected day in and day out. i would figure that section would be an ideal spot for ongoing discussion between those who wish to clutch at any possible shred of evidence that the Police would continue as a group. why is that not the case? nothing has been written there for at least a month. why not take advantage of the opportunity? Listing had reported that someone in Dominics camp has said Dominic will be working with Sting. They did say March but maybe Sting stepped it up a notch. And it did come from Sting that he was ready to work on a new album. I don't think he would fib about that.

Not sure if Dom will appear on Sting's upcoming album. His site lists lots of new dates throughout the year with other bands...

it was reported that Dom will indeed be involved. and even though he has committed himself to various live gigs this year, that shouldn't be perceived as enough work to prevent him from working with Sting.
as for live performance, i'm figuring that Sting wouldn't hit the road for any full blown tour until 2010 - so those 2009 dates that Dom have slated on his agenda probably won't factor in to his availability to Sting. Feb 25, 09 | 9:57 am

I was going to say yesterday that it didn't look like enough dates to interfere with Sting / album - the only way we could have a problem is if Johnny was right and Sting started the tour this summer... but that won't be the case (I don't think)
