Hey everyone! I have been to plenty of concerts I know this is a risky way to go, but if you go to the concert and wait till the last minute, you can almost always find someone selling a ticket outside the venue for much cheaper than the prices we are discussing here. Is there a chance you won't get in? Maybe. But in my experience I have always found a ticket for any concert I wanted to see. I would like to say here that Ticketmaster, and those filthy ticket agencies should be shut down. The Police should already have a fan club, a official website, etc, some way of thanking us for all of our years of support and dedication. Remember Stewart on the VH1 behind the music "We should do a tour and give all the money away!"..........I love The Police as much or more than anyone on this site. However, This tour sings of the corporate greed that has so invaded our World! The only way to stop it is to not attend, by the way they know you won't do that. So ante up your thousands, see you at the show! By the way all of this got me to thinking do you think if might be President Bush and his friends behind all of this? Maybe Tony Blair? Just Kidding I think!

Personally, I am just happy they are back together. We have been waiting over 20 years for this.

Corporate greed?? It's all about supply and demand. To me the Police reunion is like a valuable diamond. Everyone knew if the Police got back together, there would be tons of money to be made. I can hardly blame Ticketmaster, Best Buy, or the government for this. Did anyone actually think when the Police decided to tour again it would be a cheap ticket?? For fans who can't see the concert, wait for the rumored DVD. You can enjoy it over and over again just like the Synchronicity concert.

Leftee, I do agree with you somewhat but LttlElvis is right. We have waited so long. that the powers that be know we will pay for the tickets. I will not however buy one for over $100. I am a widow on a pension and I am not going to make this the end all be all of my exisitence. Some of the ticket prices are so outragious it's scary. But the goveernment isn't goin to regulate
the ticket vendors. They get the tax money from the profits. And they got to be making a hell of a profit. SO like you said Leftee if they get to out of whack I won't go, I'll just watch the DVD. Of course if anybody want to donate to send a widow to see The Police fund let me know. LOL LOL LOL, Like they'll ever get to Omaha anyway. ( Kansas CIty would be good too)

Yes, I am Leftee of ThreePeace and I am going to see the Police.......If you read my post all the way through and you will see I said "See you at the concert." So rest assured I will be there! I also reserve the right to speak out against what I see as a great injustice. Supply and Demand Yes I understand all of that. I would also like to say that I have a family. I understand all of the people on here are greatful the police are back together Yee Haa! I am thrilled for this as well. The downfall is I have 3 kids who adore the Police. I think it is terrible to ask me to pay over $1000 to let them see their heroes. I don't think the tickets should be cheap......But like Franny said $100 is plenty for any concert ticket.............A big part of this is how to break their hearts that they won't be able to go their favorite band. I am saddened that a night out to see the Police would cost more than we spend on our family for an entire month of living expenses. Sorry Kids I will get you the DVD somehow rings shallow!

Cheers,
Leftee

Tried to get tickets for LA this morning, I can't complain as my Police membership was free but I was really surprised to learn we could only get tickets for one show as compared to unlimited shows with Sting's tours. That combined with Ticketmaster auctions that the band agreed to give up premium floor seats for, it seems the fans are getting screwed, that combined with all stadium floor seats at $250 with Ticketmaster charges adding up to almost $600 for 2 tickets, I am really starting to believe the only motivation for this tour is money, not only corporate, but also by Sting, Copeland and Summers.

I’ve been wondering about that, too, Trini. As much as I love Sting and/or The Police I’m not happy about the ticket prices. I’m going to two shows and even though I’m ecstatic about seeing The Police again I’m still a little bummed that it’s going to cost over a 1000K for me and my wife! I’m in a position now where I can afford this luxury but some people aren’t so lucky. A few years ago I probably would not have been able to go. And I think about how I saw The Police in 1983 as a young teen with my ticket that cost less than $18! I realize it’s not 1983 but no one can tell me that $18 was equivalent to $250 today.

I thought what Sting did during the Broken Music tour was brilliant. My ticket cost $19.50 and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. I was kind of hoping the Police tour would be more like the Broken Music tour -- for everyone rich or poor.

I always get slammed when I bring up the money thing but it’s just how I feel. But I guess the bottom line is that my happiness about seeing The Police again overshadows my money concerns.

I saw The Police back in 1982 for free!!!! It's clearly a big big big business running, and I feel a bit unconfortable. I too am in the position to afford the ticket price, but I feel it's unfair for more then a reason. First, a lot of people can't really afford to pay this price; second, I would have liked more a not-so-$-interested tour. A sort of present to the fans. But at these prices.... but, as I always say of myself, you know I'm a dreamer (Imagine - J. Lennon)

I will admit that if I spent $100 for the Police fan club, I would have been disappointed not being able to buy tickets for more than one show. I could not spend $600 for the boys, I gave up the floor seats and accepted two $95 seats totaling $225 instead. Sorry, can't pay $300 a ticket (incl charges) to see any band, including the Police.

Why is anybody surprised that this tour is about one thing and one thing only..........MONEY!!!! And why is anybody surprised that Sting, when it comes right down to it, is just like those he bashes.......a capitalist at heart who likes to 'protect' his $ anyway he can. Tax havens, spending a certain amount of time in the US and Britain to escape the tax man. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with what he does, just don't like the hypocrisy.

I think the one show per membership rules sucks. I also think it sucks that BB rewards members get a pre-sale before the fan club, but they are sponsoring the tour. Life just isn't fair. In the end, I knew the die-hard fans would be the ones that got screwed, but I am not surprised. I don't care what I have to pay a ticket broker/scalper, I am going to several shows, but still disappointed in how The Police and their management have handled this fiasco.

>>>Sting, when it comes right down to it, is just like those he bashes.......a capitalist at heart who likes to 'protect' his $ anyway he can.

Well said, texasbabe! This has always bugged me about Sting, too, but it doesn't bug me enough to stop being his BIGGEST fan!

And I can say from experience that Best Buy's pre-sales are better than the official club's pre-sales. They have a better system and better seats. Fortunately, I was a Reward's Card member and the seats I got were great. The seats I got for another show from the official site, however, were not so good. And I agree that it's not fair to the REAL fans.

But I need to put all this aside and just be happy I'm going! I'll pay the bills later...

yobculture....I feel the same way.....it 'doesn't bug me enought to stop being his BIGGEST fan.' I am just a realist. : )

I wonder if BB has the same 'system' as John Mayer's fan club. I find the ticket sales through Local-83 are flawless. They release good seats throughout the day. They just dont' dump; them all online when the pre-sale starts.

Still think it sucks that Best Buy got a better pre-sale that the fanclub.......especially when it comes to the old Outlandos and Sting.com members, but like I said, I don't care what it cost whether through the 'official' fanclub or through a ticket broker I am at least going to three shows maybe more.

Congrats on scoring tickets!

Leftee is right. This is about more than paying a high price for tickets. I have been trying to get tickets to any Garden show and keep running into unreasonable prices. This tour is about secondary market prices that are completely unreasonable. I am willing to pay $550 to $600 for two premium seats. There is NOTHING available at that price, unless you are willing to pay $1,000 and up. Go to Ebay and see for yourself. The scalpers are buying the tickets of the only few people who are selling at a modest markup.

And yes, it does bug me that other rock stars charge so much.
Fortunately, I like a lot of indie music so I can still see some people for less than $30!

Franny I agree with your comment. There was just an report on ABC News about how U2 and the Stones shelter much of their earnings in the Netherlands. This is why I don't take Sting, Bono and others seriously when they spout off about what is going on in the world, how the rich should pay more, on and on.....and Bono, what a hypocrite. Telling the world they should forgive the debt of third world countries yet here he is trying to hide as much of his own wealth as he can from the tax man. Same with Sting, and other rock stars, and celebrities in general. Most of them do have the mentality of 'do as I say, not as I do.' Again, that is why I don't take Sting (and others) seriously when they speak out on world issues......frankly, they don't live in the 'real' world.

BUT they still pay a lot of taxes. There are just being smart business men when they do this. I think Bono has given so much of himself and his money for aid in Africa as Sting has for The Rainforest. When they shelter their money it allows them to do more. And after all they earned this money through us buying their recordings So we can't really bag on them for being rich we made them that way. I mean they have spent a lot of time in other countries working for these causes. Sting was one of the first celebrities on the scene after the Tsunami hit and did a big concert to raise money for those victims.

Hello and Good Morning or Good day wherever you all are. You know when we seriously discuss this stuff it kind of makes me hesitant to go forward with our music because of the corporate vultures. ThreePeace is on my own label Sheehan Sound Engineering. I am going to keep it on their regardless of what kind of money we are offered. That isn't to say we wouldn't consider some kind of distribution deal, but the thought of being in bed with those corporate bastards goes contrary to everything we stand for as a band. Currently we won't play gigs in our local area because club owners only pay bands $100 and then ask you to pay the sound guy $75 bucks to the sound guy. Well that is Michigan these days. We book our own private shows and make decent money by doing this, have our own road crew and lights. When these greedy types call us for a gigs in their clubs with their rediculous offers. I always tell them keep the money, you need it more! Then we offer to do a free show for some type of charity. This way we don't feel like losers playing for $7.50 each while our music is being played and selling all over the World which it is! Thanks God! In the long run we might have to come up against these Ticketmaster guys.... Record Labels and the like. I will make a promise right now that I won't talk out both sides of my mouth. My focus for our music is World peace and has nothing to do with getting rich in anyway. If we can spread World Peace with our music we will get our payment from a much better source. The Creator! We have signed our deal with him!

Cheers,
Leftee

Franny, I need to find the link that the story. Compared to what they make from touring and royalities, they do not pay their fair share of taxes. Don't get me wrong. I am ALL for anyone, no matter what their field, who is wealthy doing what they can to shelter their money. I do find it somewhat hypocritcal when celebrities take others to task for making too much money. Example, those in the corporate world. While Sting and his music make us very happy and I don't have a problem 'contributing' to his wealth I just find it hypocritcal that he, Bono and others grip about corporate execs and others and their 'greed.' I still find it very ironic that Bono especially is out there wanting third world debt forgiven, when he and U2 are sheltered so much of their $ in the Netherlands. Like I said, I read the article and was shocked to see the taxes they paid compared to the money they bring in.

You also have to remember the taxes where they come from are a lot more then we pay in the U.S. the diffrence in the percentage THEY pay is phenominal compared to what we pay. "And If I Were a Rich Man" I would probably do the same thing. (it could happen) And third world debt should be forgiven because it only going to make the rich richer. The rich can afford to forgive it. I read that article too and we have discussed that on here. But I hope their giving ways continue for those countries that need it most. Making people aware of all the problems of the world is what needs to be done. And if you think I'm saying this because I have money HA. fat chance I live on a pension from my dead husband, and have gotten cheated out of some of it. I could be my own third world country (just kidding) So the more they do for causes the more power to them. Some of the money for this Police tour going to water aid is a good thing. And I am not saying you are all wrong texasbabe But you also have to give them credit where credit is due. But they are still rich and like I said we made them that way. Now I am out of breath. But see if you can dig up that article.
