I read this news from a Brazilian website: http://babado.ig.com.br/materias/348001-348500/348305/348305_1.html

It says that Rose Sumner, Sting's aunt, has celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday with the family while Sting was at Elton John's wedding. She received a birthday card from the Queen of England but didn't receive anything from Sting.
Rose also said that it'd have been nice if Sting had remembered this date but she understands that he's a very busy person being a rock star. Her nephew, Vic Gibbins, added that Rose and Sting hadn't been in touch for some time.

Sting must have been very excited about Elton John's wedding and didn't remember... :P Poor Auntie Rose!

Think about it. He probably did'nt feel half as bad as he does now that the whole world knows he forgot. He probably feels like reeeeeeal DIRT right now. If I forgot my Auntie Rose's bday, know one would know or care. Poor Sting.

This is just a stupid thing for the press to bring up. Why oesn't his people
remind him of this stuff geez. Anything negative will always be newsworthy.
I'm sure he'll catch up to her now, after he hears about his story.

It is funny :-) She doesn't look sad though, she looks like she needs to get her gift quick while she still has time to enjoy it.

Maybe Sting's just not very good with dates, I'll admit I dont know some (or most) of my relatives birthdays, i know my parents' and sisters' birthdays, the rest - im clueless!! Thats bad, my memory is sh*t! :/ Sting's head is probably as much in the clouds as mine is! And men are useless anyway, my mum has to remind my dad when there's a birthday in the fmaily, even on his side, and buy a card/present too, from him!! *rolls eyes*

On the bright side, lets hope a long life span runs in the Sumner family!! :)

I'm sure you also know Sting's birthday, don't you? :P but I know what you mean, here it's the same, my mum has to remember everything..

so, we can conclude that it was all Trudie's fault!!! She must have reminded Sting of his aunt's birthday! 8-)

I always had and well still have my mothers birthday on the wrong day. Can't recal my aunts except the month and year she was born. Cousins birth day - know the month couldn't figure the date out to save my.... same with many of my cousins. Know my dads birth day just can't remember the year without first remembering the year my aunt was born.

On the other hand I can remember the day and the time I first met my wife but don't recal what she was wearing at the time.

Now if I forget the date of my own birthday I'll be in even *MORE* trouble

Sting when he realizes he forgot it was his Aunts Birthday may end up saying one of the following.

A) its Kippers fault well he gave me a new electronic organizer with MSFT Windows CE and you know how I am with Electronic toys. My VCR still blinks 12:00.

B) its Dads fault. I got his genes you know and I am male and I've got well a bad case of tantric forgetitallatitis.

C) its Bill Gates fault. It was his o/s and his program that I was going to store your BDay.

D) Its Dominics fault - he keeps singing some catchy tune that goes "have you dropped Kippers Mac.... lateeely"

E) I wrote it on the calendar but the darned thing is in the wrong house.

F) have I mentioned I suffer from Male Tantric forgetitallatitis?

G) I was working on a time machine and am about to test it.

H) Trudy went shopping and well being a woman you know how you can lose track of time shopping at the mall and well....

I) 3 words Male Tantric Forget-it-all-a-tittis.

J) Its one of the Dogs fault - had a lovely conversation with him and well I didn't understand a bark he did.

K) I was abducted by aliens - while drinking espresso - legally I might add

L) Male pattern stupidity

N) I was writing a song about your birthday. Lost the time signature and couldn't find a b sharp to save my...

O) I see a confessional coming really soon

P) found the bottle got the message but it was written in my doctors hand writting?

Q) Trantric whateveritwasagainatits - I forgot

BTW, sting.com has holidays and doesn't report anything, Sting certainly forgot to call or write his auntie and he won't know because he never reads The Sun anyway. But it may well be that he is reminded by his relatives by now to call her!

A happily married Sumner seems to live very long...sting's grandmother Agnes died when she was 92 yo, his grandauntie (Agnes' sister) is still living she is more than 96 yo, and Rose Sumner is 100 yo, so that is not bad at all;-)

Sting's parents both died of cancer and being so unhappy otherwise they certainly would have lived to be 100 years old, who knows.....

I can't remember my birthday half the time. Men forget their wives birthdays
and their anniversaries. To forget an Aunts birthday is not a big deal.

As someone has said, maybe Sting and his 'auntie' don't get along at any time and don't communicate. There is no law which demands that we like our relatives, or that we have to socialize with them. As usual the media are making a Mount Everest out of a pimple-sized molehill; surely there are more important things to write about?

I agree, Doreen. I know that some of my Dad's brothers' wives (that sounds funny....Dad had more than one brother - we are not a family of polygamists) were some absolute shrews! They were horrible to my Uncles, never cared for us and probably enjoyed stomping on puppies! Just because someone lives to be 100 does not automatically qualify them as a sweet, little old lady!
